6KCBWDAY3 - Something old, something new...

Nothing borrowed, something blue.

Today the challenge is to do something different with the pictures of our finished objects.

So here is the teddy bear my sister gave me over twenty-five years ago, modelling a baby sweater for someone yet to arrive on this planet.

And here is a test knit I did.

The little pink elephant was made by my Dad when he was in hospice in 1973. He was very nearly blind, and he laughed that he put the legs on backwards so the poor little guy is always resting on his trunk.

and then I played with Paint.

Let's just say - I am still in kindergarten.

I have a lot to learn.

If you have any tips on how to add text to photographs, or the programs you use to modify pictures - please feel free to comment and help this old dog out.

You know.

Old dog - new tricks.

  2. You need a teenage daughter to teach you photo tricks... Or a fiend with one! So's that an old dog can easily master... Level 1 degree of difficulty " Memes" ... Level 1.5 " Phonto"

  5. Gimp is free software you can download for PC or Mac. It is like photoshop but free. There are oodles of tutorials on anything imaginable through Google. Old dogs sometimes have more time to research such things, don't they? Heehee! Have fun!

I like your elephant. Sweet story!

  9. Ooh, don't get Gimp. Well, maybe you'll have more luck with it than I ever did. I tried it, but it was like... I had no idea how to use it.

What I use is Picasa. It was a free download. It's allied with Google, I believe. There's this really easy add text button. I use it to edit all my photos now.

  10. I love that little elephant and the blue and pink cardigan, so sweet. You can use Pic Monkey to add text to pics and play around with different effects.
Also Watermark as a phone app is pretty good too. Those are the ones I use and are both free and relatively easy to use!

  11. There are several free image editors available including the Gimp as already mentioned. Sledgehammers for cracking tiny nuts as far as most snapping bloggers would be concerned. Best avoided unless you want to tackle serious editing. I would agree with other commenters that using one of the many comprehensive and easy free editing tools online is the way to start adding a touch of flash. Pixlr, already mentioned is available online and comes in different flavours: there's an editor for doing detailed work, and the O-Matic effects app that in three simple clicks will add colour effects, overlays and frames and a kind of hybrid version that also makes collages. The Pixlr-O-Matic is available as a free desktop download to play with to your heart's content. You might want to explore Pic Monkey too and there are several collage makers. Almost all of these services are free and unlimited but add extra features for paid customers. They are all safe - at least the ones that I know of. You have a myriad choices - be careful you don't lose an entire day having fun with them, it's easily done :-)
